Product Features: Brazilian artisan Glauco works in finely tooled leather to create wall decor map Wall map depicts the world in 1560 Original art based on the work of Portuguese cartographer Sebastiao Lopes Signed by the artist Cedar display rod(s) included Story Behind the Art: In 1968, at the age of 15, Glauco grabbed a backpack and set off to discover Brazil. 'I learned leather-crafting techniques, and how to work with wood,' he recalls. I returned home and began to sell my wares while also studying design. I made leather bags, purses and wallets. When I moved to Rio de Janeiro, my passion for maps exploded. I began to design maps on leather and began an extensive research on the subject. Eventually I was able to reproduce maps for every region.' The handcrafted nature of this product will produce minor differences in design and sizing. Subtle variations will occur from piece to piece, adding to its unique qualities. Measurements may vary slightly.
